Trying to identify a tv series?

About 10 years ago I watched a series on either HBO or Showtime that was set in a dark futuristic setting. I remember that in this series that when someone committed a crime they lose an body part, or in worse cases be placed into a machine that pretty much harvested all of their organs. I have searched online for information about this series but have had no luck. Hopefully someone is able to identify it.
