MLB 2k8 Help?

Why is MLB 2k8 so different. I give up 11-15 runs per game but I score 20+ runs a game. How do i set it where the good players(a-rod, prince fielder etc.) hit well but the lower cl players do not. And also Its taking me a while to adjust to the pitching so what should i do. When i release it its right on time and that red light doesnt come but they still get doubles,triples and hrs off me.
