What do you think of Ford's decision to pardon nixon? Does it affect what we think of him now that he's gone?

I think President Ford's decision to pardon Nixon was for the good of America, and he knew at the time he signed it he was committing political suicide. His unselfishness saved an America already reeling from Vietnam and Watergate from having to suffer through a embarring and potentially security threatening trial. There aren't any unselfish patriots like him left in politics any more.
