What pitch is your average woman's voice supposed to be?

I'm a 16 year old girl and I sing in the first and second octave below middle C (on the piano). And I don't mean playing a note and singing an octave higher thinking its the same note. My voice is very deep. My mother can sing even deeper. How common is this?
