Honda 600rr v 1000.....buddys say get the 1000? "they say i will out grow the 600 in 6 months?

i have a couple buddys that say buying a brand new 600 is a waste and that the 1000 is a better bike to grow into> keep in mind that im new to the motorcycle riding and dont want to get a bike thats not up for the job...i recently took a beginners cl and obtain a m endorsorment. i now carry cl c w/ hazmat , tankers, pups and triples...and know moto....so i can legally drive any thing with wheels......is it wise to go 1000 instead of 600......they also say that once i out grow the 600 the resale price fall a great bit....whats your take... thanks
