If you stopped BLINKING, would your eye eventually CRACK?

Your eye would dry out, the cornea would ulcerate, and it would eventually lead to blindness. Our patients who have a decreased blink reflex, exposure keratopathy, or lid retraction, we either put a gold weight in the eyelid, sew the outside corner shut, or if the patient has lost their vision already, the eyelid can be sewn completely shut to prevent pain.
